“The background of my desktop is a photo that I took last fall as part of my project called 11 Years. It’s an analog photo that I shot on film, and I like the disparity between the analog photograph and the digital surface it’s being displayed on. I also love that my desktop is arranged like most of the compositions in my photographs: really heavy on one side, completely void in the middle. This composition is my default that I’m always struggling against when I make photographs. Additionally, I feel like this screenshot is of a particularly clean desktop for me. I’m pretty messy by nature, and I just can’t keep up with organizing my desktop, really ever. And the one very, very last thought: When I captured the screenshot, it showed up on my desktop, immediately changing the desktop from the moment I captured it. What a trippy commentary on the impermanence of human life.”
